Fill in Gaps With Dental Bridges

Posted .

Teeth fall out of our mouths and get lost sometimes, leaving an empty space in our smiles. There is no need to get discouraged because there are several ways to fill that space in, and a dental bridge is one way to consider.

A dental bridge basically provides an artificial tooth that can look as natural as the old one. A bridge is often made with two dental crowns that are attached to opposite sides of the artificial tooth, or the pontic as we call it. The crowns are attached to the teeth that rest on either side of the gap. They hold the pontic over the target area. You will then have a new tooth to use and care for.

A bridge can also bring the following benefits. You may notice that speaking clearly is a bit harder with a tooth missing. The pontic can bring your ability to converse back up to speed.

The crowns that support the pontic can also hold the teeth they cover in place. Our teeth use each other to remain stable, and they can steadily drift out of position if one of them jumps ship. The bridge can anchor them into their proper position, ensuring that your teeth continue to function normally.

Our dentist, Dr. Shane McPherson, and team can provide a dental bridge for you if you would like to use one to replace one or more teeth. We provide bridges and many other services here at D.
